Land Acknowledgement

At FIRST Robotics Canada, we acknowledge the Elders and Youth, past, present and emerging, of all the land on which we work and live. We honour the Ancestral Spirits with gratitude and respect. We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America. The Indigenous people have been gifted the role of caretakers of this land before the arrival of settler peoples until today. But, most importantly, we remember the history of these lands and people that have been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations, who called Canada home before it was given this name.

This history is something that affects everyone. We are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on and are affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, it does not define our future. We move forward in respect, reflection and reconciliation.

FIRST Robotics Canada exists to prepare the young people of today for the world of tomorrow.

The mission of FIRST Robotics Canada is to provide life-changing robotics programs that give young people the skills, confidence, and resilience to build a better world.

The Vision of FIRST Robotics Canada is to transform Canada by creating a culture where science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.

Our values

Gracious Professionalism

Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST Robotics Canada. It is a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.

With Gracious Professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals learn and compete intensely but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process. They avoid treating anyone like losers. Knowledge, competition, and empathy are comfortably blended.

In the long run, Gracious Professionalism is part of pursuing a meaningful life. One can add to society and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing one has acted with integrity and sensitivity.

Cooperation and Competition. Success in FIRST Robotics Canada programs hinges on cooperation with both alliance and competing teams. We believe that collaboratively
