We invite your class to join us for a FREE 1-hour Virtual Coding Workshop to give students ages 9+ a taste of what programming is all about! They will learn how to make a robot move and more in a virtual FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) world using FIRST Robotics Canada FTC SIM. Each workshop will be led by an instructor from the world of FIRST Robotics Canada. They will teach your students how to code with Blocks or Java and to navigate their robot through increasingly difficult challenges. The goal of each problem is to get your robot to the FIRST Canada flag. Along the way, attendees will learn about coding concepts in a hands-on practical way.
In each session, students will:
- Use Logic and Creative Thinking to brainstorm solutions to a challenge
- Apply Structure, Sequencing and Algorithmic Thinking to code a solution
- Communicate your solution to the group
- Please ensure your students will all have a computer with internet access. It is best if our instructor can be projected at the front of the class for students to follow along with.
If interested please complete the following registration form and you will be contacted by a FIRST Canada representative to confirm your session date/time and provide direction to create registrations on FTC SIM for your class! If you are interested in workshops for multiple classes, please complete the registration for each individual class. Laptops/Chromebooks required. Not compatible with iPad.
If you have any questions, concerns or need a different time slot, please contact Maria at maria.muiruri@firstroboticscanada.org.
