John Hobbins wins WFFA: John with Roly Anderson, Mark Breadner and Karthik KanagasabapathyCanadian teams have a great showing at the first weekend of regionals.
At the BAE Systems Granite State Regional, Team 2386 from Burlington Central High School made it all the way to the semi-finals but lost to the alliance that would go on to win the event. Team 1547 from Trafalgar Castle School came away with FIRST's highest award, the Regional Chairman's Award. Congratulations to both teams for a strong showing in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Meanwhile at the Finger Lakes Regional, five Canadian teams were showing off what their robots could do. A couple of teams came away with awards:
Team 1241 from Rick Hansen SS won the Entrepreneurship Award
Team 188 from Woburn CI won the Industrial Design Award
All the teams had a strong showing on the field and 4 teams went on to compete in the elimination matches. Team 2852 lost out in their quarter final game while team 1241 was defeated in the semi-finals. Teams 188 and 610, who were on the same alliance, fought hard but lost in the finals.
A special congratulations to John Hobbins from Rick Hansen SS who was awarded the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award. This award is presented to a mentor based on a student written submission outlining the mentors effective communication in the art and science of engineering and design.
