What do you get when you put LEGO, robots and creative children together at BCIT?
Why, the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) British Columbia "Smart Move" Challenge, of course.
The FIRST LEGO League's mission is to inspire children to work together, use their creativity, and engage in real-world problems and opportunities. The robotics competition is developed for middle-school age students and is comprised of two primary activities: building and programming a small robot using LEGO Mindstorms to accomplish various challenges, and investigating a research topic and presenting findings at the tournament. The FLL challenge is different each year, and has ranged from Arctic research stations and underwater adventures to a Martian expedition. This year's theme was transportation.
Get a glimpse of our future robotics engineers and technologists in action in this short video.
The following teams will all be advancing to the Championship Tournament here at BCIT on January 9: Robostorms, WPGA Wolfiest, CritterBots, Buildbots, York House Tigers, Cellular Wave, G-Bots, SkyPodz, MACC Attack, WPGA Wolfier.
